MANDALIKA — Indonesia has made a historical achievement as the first country in the world to host the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery, located at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, in The Mandalika, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The gallery was inaugurated today, Saturday (28/9) by ITDC and PT Pertamina (Persero), coinciding with the qualifying race of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2024. This inauguration marks a significant milestone for Indonesia and strengthens the position of the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit as a world-class international racing destination.

Maya Watono, Director of Marketing and Tourism Programs at InJourney, stated, “The inauguration of the Pertamina MotoGPTM Experience Gallery not only solidifies Mandalikas status as an international racing destination but also makes a substantial contribution to the tourism sector in Central Lombok. The gallery is expected to attract both domestic and international tourists, positioning Mandalika as a comprehensive sport and entertainment tourism destination while showcasing Indonesias rich culture and natural beauty to the world.”

PT Pertamina (Persero), the main sponsor of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia (IndonesianGP) 2024, is committed to supporting the development of Indonesias tourism ecosystem through strategic collaboration. “We are proud to be part of this historic moment. The presence of this museum not only reinforces the status of the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit as a world-class racing destination but also serves as an educational and informative hub about the history of motorcycle racing. This aligns with Pertaminas vision to support sustainable development in Indonesia, including in the tourism and sports sectors,” said Nicke Widyawati, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero).

The Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery offers various MotoGP™ memorabilia, such as helmets, mini bikes, and other iconic items used by racers. It also features a range of interactive digital installations at the Kids Corner (Race With Wheelie), augmented reality at the circuit model in the “The Twists and Turns” area, and a miniature laboratory by Pertamina. The gallery enhances visitors experiences during races and is poised to be a year-round tourist attraction.

Ari Respati, President Director of ITDC, highlighted that the gallery would become a significant legacy for the automotive world, especially MotoGPTM. “MotoGPTM is one of the biggest sports events globally, and PT Pertaminas role as the main sponsor represents a joint contribution and collaboration to strengthen Indonesias image on the international stage. This museum will become a new icon that not only attracts global tourists but also supports local and national economic growth through the tourism and international sports event industries.”

The museums layout includes several main galleries, such as the South Gallery, which functions as a multifunctional room with a capacity of up to 50 people. Meanwhile, the North Gallery of the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery offers an immersive experience into the MotoGPTM world with various interactive and informative zones.

Visitors can witness the extreme speed of MotoGP bikes in the “Up-to 366.1 Kilometers per Hour” area and enjoy the “Kids Corner,” an educational activation specially designed for children. This program is an Intellectual Property (IP) of Dorna, brought to life through interactive installations in the gallery.

The “Safety Behind The Wheels” gallery displays original memorabilia from racers, brought in by Dorna. The “Beyond the Circuits” area offers a “backstage access” experience for visitors to peek into the paddock, showcasing the technical support each racer receives during the race.

Additionally, the “The Frontrunners (Pertamina)” area consists of three sections: Pertamina & Motorsport, which highlights Pertaminas history in motorsport development in Indonesia; Pertamina Lubricants, focusing on Pertaminas innovations in lubricant products; and Pertamina Enduro VR46. Visitors can also explore the unique challenges of the Mandalika Circuit through “The Twists and Turns” area and learn about the circuits construction and local culture in “Brief History of Mandalika & MotoGP.” Meanwhile, “The Lane of Fame” showcases the racers competing in the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia this season and historical moments from MotoGP.

The Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery will be open to the public, allowing all MotoGP fans to experience the world of motorcycle racing up close and delve into various supporting aspects of MotoGPTM. “We believe that the integration of world-class infrastructure, international events, and a commitment to sustainability will make the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit and the Pertamina MotoGP Experience Gallery catalysts for more inclusive and sustainable development in Indonesia,” Ari concluded.(red)
